Stephan has always loved being in the mountains. Growing up in Germany with a grand mother who summited Mont Blanc in 1938, you could say that Stephan's passion for the mountains is in his DNA. Studying sport science some 20 years ago, he realised that he could combine his two passions (sports and mountains) into one, when choosing to become a mountain guide.
He takes pride in keeping his clients safe while out guiding and is always up for sharing his knowledge and passion with clients from all over the globe. One of the benefits of guiding according to Stephan is to be part of someone developing their personal skills while out skiing, climbing etc. Helping his clients progress in this outdoor environment is very rewarding and giving them an exciting and happy day is definitely one of Stephans goals with his profession. Good planning skills, proper training, right type of preparation and respecting the limits are keywords for Stephan.
Being based in Chamonix gives Stephan a wide range of possibilities for his work. Chamonix is the mecca of alpinism and has endless possibilities for all kinds of vertical adventures. But of course, there are other places on Earth he loves as well, that are great for outdoor adventures. Stephan has frequently been going on expeditions to all the corners of the world and some of his favourites include Broad Peak in Pakistan and Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia. Another favourite thing to do is to go big wall climbing in South America.
When not working you will probably find Stephan deeply involved in other sports with his family either in his backyard, the Chamonix mountains or somewhere else on this planet.
