IFMGA/UIAGM Certified Mountain Guide who Will give you the time of your life in the mountains no matter if it’s a single day of adventure in the Alps or on a month-long expedition far away. Stephan is more than happy to share his mountain knowledge with keen adventures.

Stephan has always loved being in the mountains. Growing up in Germany with a grand mother who summited Mont Blanc in 1938, you could say that Stephan’s passion for the mountains is in his DNA. Studying sport science some 20 years ago, he realised that he could combine his two passions (sports and mountains) into one, when choosing to become a mountain guide.

Being based in Chamonix gives Stephan wide range of possibilities for his work. Chamonix is the mecca of alpinism and has endless possibilities for all kind of vertical adventures. But, of course, there are other places on Earth he loves as well, that are great for outdoor adventures.

Stephan Schanderl has frequently been going on expeditions to all he corners of the world having participated in more than 15 and returning safely with his clients. Has successfully conquered in Asia: Broad Peak pre-summit 8020, Korschenewskaja 7105m, Peak Vorobiev 5691m, Kun 7077m, Peak Lenin 7134m, Shivling attempt 6543m, Dhampus peak 6030m, Island Peak 6189m. In Peru: Alpamayo 5947m, Huascarán 6768m, Pisco 752m, Chopicalqui 6354m and Yanapaccha 5460m; as well as in Argentina also several times Aconcagua 6962m through different routes like Guanacos traverse or polish glacier and in Indonia: Carstenz Pyramid.

Another favourite thing to do is to climb big walls: he has travelled several times to Yosemite getting the Hafdom, the Leaning Tower and the Washington Column. He has also travelled to Pakistan climbing in the Charakusa Valley and in Patagonia in Cochamo successfully achieving several big walls. He has also been to the Janu (attempt) in Nepal and climbing in the Bezengi area in the Caucasus. He has also made numerous trekking trips such as Dhaulageri (several times), Kumbu, in Bhutan and Patagonia. Stephan has also tasted the “Japow”, guiding in Hokkaido (Japan).

He takes pride in keeping his clients safe while out guiding and is always up for sharing his knowledge and passion with clients from all over the globe. One of the benefits of guiding according to Stephan is to be part of someone developing their personal skills while out skiing, climbing etc. Helping his clients progress in this outdoor environment is very rewarding and giving them an exciting and happy day is definitely one of Stephans goals with his profession. Good planning skills, proper training, right type of preparation and respecting the limits are keywords for Stephan.

When not working you will probably find him deeply involved in other sports with his family either in his backyard, the Chamonix mountains or somewhere else on this planet.
