Activity Overview

The Aiguille du Midi is the highest lift in the valley, taking you to 3842m of altitude. It is the closest that you can get to Mont-Blanc on a lift, and it is the start to the mythical Vallée Blanche ski. This spectacular ski is 100% off-piste and is a unique experience at the heart of the Chamonix valley.

What To Expect

This route begins at the gate leaving the Aiguille du Midi top lift station where you will walk down the Aiguille du midi Arête, before putting on your skis and descending all the way in Chamonix town, if the conditions allow it. If not, you will finish at the bottom of the glacier at the Montenvers train station. It is one of the most famous skis that you can experience, skiing 18km in distance and 2800 m of descent.

It is a fantastic day out with magnificent views of the surrounding 4000m peaks and glaciers in the Mont Blanc Massif. Although the skiing itself is not the most challenging, skiing the Vallée Blanche comes with its own challenges and dangers which is why it should not be taken lightly. Crevasses, avalanches and serac falls are just some of the dangers that you may be faced with, in addition to altitude and navigating through changing weather if you haven’t timed your outing right.
