Heliskiing offers one of the most unforgettable ways to experience off-piste skiing. Instead of starting your descent from a lift or a skinning approach, a helicopter places you directly onto untouched summits and remote alpine terrain. From there, you enjoy long, pristine runs through virgin snow in a completely wild environment, far from marked pistes and crowds.

Heliskiing day trip from Chamonix: Italy in 20 minutes

One of the great advantages of being based in Chamonix is how quickly we can access world-class heliskiing on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc massif. From Chamonix, we simply drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel (around 20 minutes) and arrive in Courmayeur, where your heliski day begins. It is a fast, smooth logistics option for guests who want a premium freeride experience without committing to a full travel itinerary.

Heliskiing with Chamonix Vertical

With our international team of IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guides, we operate heliskiing programs across Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland and Greenland, choosing the best locations depending on snow conditions and your skiing level. Typical zones include:

High alpine glaciers and long rolling descents in Switzerland
Technical couloirs and steeper terrain in Italy (including the Italian side of the Mont Blanc massif)
Sunny, wild, remote mountain ranges in Spain

We select the best area for your objectives, the weather window and the current snowpack, with safety and quality skiing as the priority.

What a heliskiing day looks like

A standard heliskiing outing includes:

Meeting, planning and a safety briefing (avalanche equipment check and protocol)
Efficient access logistics (transfers coordinated by your guide; day trip option via Courmayeur)
Helicopter drop-off on a remote alpine summit
Long freeride descents through deep powder or high-mountain terrain
Multiple runs depending on conditions, group level and weather
Continuous guide-led route selection, risk management and timing

Your guide manages terrain choice, exposure, group flow and decision-making so you can focus on skiing.

Who is this for?

Heliskiing is reserved for strong off-piste skiers or snowboarders with good physical condition. You should be comfortable in variable snow, able to link controlled turns on steeper terrain, and ready for a remote environment where conditions can change quickly.
