Overview

Famous for its vast high-mountain terrain, the Chamonix Valley also offers an exceptional range of ice climbing routes suitable for every level. From December to mid-March, much of the valley lies in the shadow of Mont Blanc, transforming streams and waterfalls into perfect frozen playgrounds.

More than 20 sectors and over 200 icefalls are found throughout the valley, from low-altitude routes ideal for beginners to iconic lines located high in the alpine environment. Some routes even remain climbable during the summer months.

Whether you are discovering ice climbing for the first time or looking to tackle one of the valley’s classics, our IFMGA-certified guides will help you progress safely and confidently.
